Professor Peter D.E.M. Verhaert, Founding CEO & CSO of ProteoFormiX BV. PhD in Biology (comparative Neurobiology), Assistant Professor, University of Leuven, Belgium, 1987; Postdoctoral fellow, Biochemistry and Toxicology, University of Waterloo, Canada, 1988; 1988-1999 Associate Professor of Comparative Physiology, University of Leuven, Belgium; 2000-2004 Senior Research Fellow at Organon NV (now MSD), a Dutch pharmaceutical company; 2005-2016 Professor of Bioanalytical Techniques and Innovative Peptide Biology, Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands; Since 2017, he has been the founder and CEO of Proteformix BV in Belgium and an honorary Professor at the Institute for Multimodal Molecular Imaging (M4I) of Maastricht University in the Netherlands.

Professor Peter D.E.M. Verhaert is a pioneer in top-down proteomics, peptidomics, and mass spectrometry imaging (MS histochemistry) and its applications in neurodegenerative diseases and cancer. Co-founder and former President of the European Pharmaceutical Proteomics Laboratory (EPPL) and proteomics Specialist at the Flanders Institute of Biotechnology (VIB) in Belgium (2000-2004). Visiting Professor of Biomedical Proteomics, Institute of Biomedical Research, Faculty of Medicine, Hasselt University (2004-2014); Editor-in-chief, EUPA Open Proteomics (2013-2016); Co-director, Centre of Excellence for Biomedical Mass Spectrometry (CEBMMS), Faculty of Medicine, Lund University, Sweden (2016).
